Gary Cook Photography - Travel Stock Photos and Assignments / Commissions - Editorial and Commercial

Gary Cook Photography is a part of Quarterland Professional Services Limited, registered in Scotland, Reg No. 419084.

About Gary :-

Gary originally trained as a Project Engineer where he was responsible for managing multi-million pound projects, but travel and photography were always his great passions. As his photography became more serious he turned semi-professional in the mid 1990's, and now runs Quarterland Professional Services Ltd, sharing his time between engineering and photography. He is an award winning freelance photographer and writer, dedicated to providing quality images for tour operators, travel magazines, newspapers, book publishers, commercial and advertising agencies - in fact anyone who has a need for photos that capture the essence of a place.

Based in the beautiful Fleet Valley National Scenic Area near Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland, his travels have so far taken him to some 60 countries across Africa, Europe, North and South America, and more are being added all the time. When not travelling to far flung parts of the world he can often be found undertaking industrial, commercial or event photography for clients throughout South West Scotland and Northern England.

Over the years he has built up a considerable travel stock library and is available for assignments / commissions world-wide.

Awards :-

Gary has won many awards which recognise the quality of his work, in recent years these have included :-

Gary won Geographical magazines prestigious 'Travel Photographer of the Year, 2003' award for 'The Environment' with an image depicting traditional farming in Lesotho. With stiff competition from over 1,600 entries from around the world this award marks a landmark in his career as a travel photographer.
This achievement was then followed by winning Total Digital Photography magazines 'Photographer of the Year' competition in the 'Places' category with an atmospheric image of Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland, and runner up in the 'People' and 'Movement' categories with images of a Berber Woman in Morocco and an unusual shot of Victoria Falls.
In 2000 Gary was awarded a Licentateship from the Royal Photographic Society for a portfollio of ten images from South America.
